MENDED HEARTS RESCUE RECEIVES PETCO FOUNDATION GRANT
Funds will provide medical care to homeless animals in preparation for adoption

INDIANAPOLIS, IN: Today, Mended Hearts Rescue, Inc. (MHR) announced that they were selected as a 2016 Petco Foundation grant recipient for the purpose of continuing their participation in the wildly successful Indy Mega Adoption Events.

A foster home based rescue without a physical location, MHR primarily relies on Internet sources and word of mouth to find homes for their adoptable animals. The Mega Adoption Event, held twice annually at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds, provides an incredible opportunity for homeless animals to meet interested adopters.

MHR has participated at the event for many years, and at each event sends home every animal they made available for adoption. This includes animals with special needs, which can sometimes take longer to find families. The exposure at the Indy Mega Adoption event is beyond what the rescue could attain on their own.

Of the grant, Mended Hearts Rescue Director Nichole Heilbron said, “We are grateful to the Petco Foundation for providing financial support for us to continue to attend the Mega Adoption event. This event has such a positive atmosphere and gives our animals an opportunity to be seen right away by potential adopters. However, we bear great expense providing veterinary care for animals which are adopted at a significantly reduced rate. This grant will fill that gap.”

The Mega Adoption are generally held in June and October. The 2017 event dates are being finalized. For more information, please see the Indy Mega website.
